In Zanesville Ohio on July 19 delegates failed after 814 ballots to nominate a Republican for State Senator in the Fifteen-Sixteenth Joint District at New Lexington. Muskingum and Delaware counties repeatedly joined to back Judge John J. Adams, who declined the nomination, as repeated near-misses with 1 vote showed the impasse among Muskingum, Delaware, Lecking and Perry counties. The convention adjourned until Thursday.

The failure of Citizens Bank of Yellow Springs triggered a run on Farmers Bank at Spring Valley owned by George W Snipp. H L Smith of Xenia named receiver deposits about 300000 with half withdrawn.
