Rear Admiral William Hemsley Emory U S A retired of Washington D C died today at his Newport Rhode Island summer residence. He was appointed to the Naval Academy in 1862 by Lincoln and served through the Civil War the Greeley Arctic Expedition and the Spanish American War commanding the Yosemite. He led a division during Robley Evans round the world voyage and retired in 1908.
