Two Die in Newport Pistol Battle at York Street Tailor Shop
In Newport Kentucky early today a pistol battle in a basement tailor shop at 510 York Street left two dying at Speers Hospital Dayton Ky and a third with a left arm wound. Proprietor Ford Smith 43 of 414 York Street was held by police following the shooting. Smith and two wounded men had been drinking home brew when Dan Madden of Ft Thomas allegedly opened fire. Madden, recently paroled from Atlanta penitentiary, fled after the incident.
