Ligonier Indiana July 14. John Henry Bruentz an eccentric wealthy man living alone on a Jackson Township Os kalb County farm was found dead in his doorway last night. Neighbors reported blood on furniture a door and an ax handle. Bruentz known for money on hand. He was last seen alive at about seven in good spirits. Tramps suspected as motive due to unlocked doors.
In Delaware Ohio on July 14 Albert Main aged 32 suddenly collapsed and died at his wife's feet. He was the brother of Prof. Henry T. Main principal of the South Ward Schools.
Emmons Brown of Jeffersonville Indiana found a lump believed to be gold after a fall while searching for runaway horses on his uncle's Boise ranch. Assay showed 196 dollars of gold per ton. He staked several claims and plans to build mining machinery and start operations.
John F. Clark, a prominent farmer in Wellston Co, was shot in an ambush this afternoon. He was taken to Hoy's Hospital with over fifty wounds in his side and hip. He initially refused but later said his own brother fired the shots. The relative, who drove him to the hospital, disappeared and was later arrested.

In Pittsburg a settlement plan gains support as W P Dearmit of the Newark and Cleveland Gas Coal Co agrees to join operators. The Joint Arbitration Commission presented a uniform settlement plan prompting Dearmit to consent after a meeting this afternoon.
Cory L. Lane secretary of the Savings Building and Loan Company in Bellefontaine faces a shortage of $3,500 in his accounts. Directors called a meeting, a committee examined the books, and Lane resigned. Early reports suggest the missing funds may total up to $10,000. Lane had a solid local reputation and business interests in fire insurance and ticket brokerage.
Stephen Kachel a 77 year old resident of 1029 South Main Street Dayton was found dead while plowing a vacant lot beside his home. His horse remained in place as a neighbor discovered him lying in a furrow.
The Fishkill Mountains reservoirs burst at 2 a.m. releasing floodwaters that swept Dutchess Valley. Five bodies recovered including Mrs. Conroy and Mrs. Ferry. two to three more are missing. Victims include Italian child Philomena De Luka and Hungarian John Sruka. Rescue efforts continue as authorities name the deceased and list the missing relatives.
In Columbus on July 14 grocers arrested for selling colored sugars begin to plead guilty and pay fines. Christian Ipp of Louis Hau sheen & Co Cleveland admitted guilt and paid over 40 dollars in fines and costs. Others are prepared to plead guilty to save costs. The sugars, unsalable in Europe, were colored to flood the American market.
One of Indiana's historic buildings, the old home of Governor Jonathan Jennings, located twelve miles east of Jeffersonville, is being torn down. A new residence will be erected on the site by Senator W. H. Watson. Jennings, Indiana's first governor, was twice married in the house and spent the latter years of his life there.
Sam P. Salyer, nominated for Judge of the district on the Democratic ticket, has not reached the constitutional age. He is 31, while 35 is the legal limit. A new convention will be called.
B. Frank Smith of a Muncie area farm dies of stomach cancer at age, after living there sixty one years. He had just contracted burial outfits and made funeral plans at Montpelier. A member of High Street M. E. Church he leaves a son, William Smith, living in Chicago.
Charles Brown, colored, was hanged at 10 o clock for the murder of Mrs Emma F Stone two months prior. On the scaffold he faced Colonel Stone, confession followed, and Brown expressed belief in forgiveness beyond the grave. Stone had contemplated acting as executioner but did not. Brown killed Mrs Stone with a cleaver during a robbery after she refused to surrender valuables. Mrs Stone was from Covington Kentucky. her husband was a Civil War veteran Colonel and restaurant owner.
John Huff Sr aged 99, possibly eastern Kentucky's oldest man, died at home near Hyden last Monday. He left a large family including 78 living grandchildren 142 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
Miners officials report approval of a plan by Mr. Dearmit to sign a contract aimed at removing evils in the Pittsburg district. It requires 9 percent of operators to join and will not end the current general suspension immediately. The deal cites no stores, honest weight, fair screens, and other reforms, with enforcement dependent on signatures and future arbitration.
In Parkerburg West Virginia on July 14 two hundred Goedel syndicate workers at the Flemington Mine walked out marking the first strike under the general order in the region. Dispatch from Hammerfest Norway reports aeronaut Mr Andree will not start before July 15 in his 75 foot balloon with Dr Ekholm and Nils Strindberg as companions. The craft carries three sails and a gondola designed to keep near the ground, with a mean height target around 150 meters. The crew plans a sky voyage off Spitzbergen from Dane's Island.
Lexington Ky July 14 The Police Commission discharged Lieutenant John Jackson who was badly wounded Christmas Day while trying to stop a drunken shooter. Jackson is accused of cowardice after he was shot in the shoulder during the street incident.
In Portland Indiana Clinton Ferris, 70, died today of blood poisoning. A nurse who cared for him contracted the infection and remains in precarious condition due to exposure.
