Lexington dispatch reports the Republican State ticket was named by acclamation led by General W. S. Taylor for Governor. Judge Pratt accepts Attorney General after initial refusal, Elder John Sweeney praised, John Burke named for Superintendent, J Throckmorton wins Agriculture post. Central Committee set for July 26 in Louisville. Congress adjourned sine die at 7 p.m. after ten hours.
Lexington July 13 The Republican convention adopted a resolution denouncing the 1898 Kentucky election law as viciously partisan and a threat to fair voting. The document calls for voters to judge the law as a supreme issue in the political contest.
The newly named geyser at Yellowstone National Park, nicknamed Dewey, erupts vigorously near the Fountain Hotel. Dr. L B Sperry of Oberlin College reports the geyser shoots water 150 feet high for about an hour and a quarter while the Fountain Geyser resumes with greater activity.

The Fugate brothers are sought in the mountains as excitement runs high.
The Second-Fourth District Democratic convention in Loveland Brown Butler Clermont and Warren opened at 10 15 a m with A F Beckley chosen temporary chair and later made permanent chairman amid uproar and stage fights before J W Tarbell was named secretary The event honored nominees Rondebush Stivers Nichols and Bryan for 1900 with cheers and a hot town band finale
