Attorney General Daugherty announced Chicago federal court final decree making permanent the 1922 rail road shopmen strike injunction. He said no extensive interstate strike will occur again and praised the ruling as settling the law and protecting the public from transportation paralysis.
The skull of Robert F. Morris is claimed to be placed before prisoner John Spires in a jail corridor to compel a confession. Sheriff J. F. Trefz describes the method as a possible third degree, intended to urge Spires to talk about Morris's murder near Otway on May 27.
Judge James H. Wilkerson issued a decree making permanent the 1922 federal injunction against the Railway Employees' Department of the American Federation of Labor and others, restraining interference with railroad operations during the nationwide strike affecting about 400,000 employees. The order, sought by Attorney General Harry M. Daugherty, follows a lengthy strike that began July 1, 1922, after wage cuts ordered by the Railroad Labor Board, and included reports of assaults and intimidation against workers who crossed picket lines.

Edith Stifel, 12, daughter of Frank J. Stifel, was found by her brother Franklin at his Baymiller Street home after running away from alleged mistreatment. The juvenile court granted an independency petition and placed her in the Children's Home pending investigation. Edith had last been seen at a Grosbeck grocery before her disappearance Wednesday morning.
Five men, all colored, were killed and thirty-five injured when a train of trip cars carrying the morning shift parted at Sloss-Sheffield Mine No 1 near Bessemers Alabama. The coupling broke 1,400 feet underground causing twelve cars to roll 800 feet, smashing timbers and striking workers.
Columbia Missouri July 12 George Barkwell acquitted of murder by a jury that tried him for lynching James T Scott a Black man in Columbia on April 29. The jury deliberated eleven minutes.
In Brecon Ohio two 15 year old John Freckers and 14 year old Harold Stevens died last night while attempting to rescue a friend in a shallow creek pool four miles north of Blue Ash. Neighbors used dynamite to uncover the bodies after efforts to reach them failed.
Governor Donahey launches a clean up drive ordering mayors of six cities and sheriffs of four counties to crack down on gambling or resign. Sheriffs named include Bob Ewing of Auglaize County, Fred Vogelmeyer of Licking County, Charles Moore of Noble County, and W. W. Scheidegger of Wyandotte County. Mayors cited are Samuel Orr of Newark and F A Kepple of Logan.
Henry Whitworth age 72 former dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Ohio Northern University and later Treasurer of the university died today in a Lima hospital of hardening of the arteries Funeral services set for Saturday.
A severe electrical storm in Cincinnati caused the death of 16 year old John Hoffman and left two men severely burned, including Dr Louis Domhoff, while another boy and a companion were shaken. Property damage spread across Cumminsville Madisonville Oakley and Hyde Park as wires fell and fires started.

William H. Greene a 46 year old Longview Hospital inmate died of strangulation after freeing himself from bed restraints. Attendants had kept him strapped due to two prior suicide attempts as coroners listed the cause of death and noted prior near misses. His mother Mrs. Laura Greene lived at 1569 Gest Street.
August Herkert 56 a retired baker of Madisonville died when his car jumped an embankment rolled into a ditch and pinned him between trees. Firemen felled a tree to free his body. Brother Philip Herkert survived uninjured. Police warn fatality toll rising with 76 auto deaths in Hamilton County this year. Burial in Laurel Cemetery Madisonville.
Mrs. Anna Marie Bedinger, 38, of 2332 Chickasaw street, remains missing after leaving the office of Dr. Joseph Podeska, 428 Broadway, Tuesday afternoon. Her husband and detectives pursue leads while another reported missing woman, Mrs. Mary Huber, later returned home.
Mrs Maude Franz aged 47 of 4833 Glenwood Terrace died early yesterday at General Hospital from injuries suffered Wednesday night when she slipped and fell while trying to pull a three year old neighbor girl Myrtle Blazing, daughter of Mrs. Blazing.
