Avis and Lieutenant H Gilespie of St Louis were among visitors. Gilespie may enter the United States Consulate in South Africa. Leslie? a Kentucky Republican leader had a brief conference with the President but details were not made public.
Five witnesses testified that the woman on trial for forgery is the same person who lived as Bert Glenn in Williamstown in 1896. Identity testimony described a limp and female attire, with crowds packed the courthouse as prosecutors press to prove Glenn is Hills Glenn, the alleged forger.
Prince Christian eldest son of the Crown Prince intends to visit the United States in the spring of 1902 on his rest unless the King dies and the Crown Prince ascends. Prince and Princess Charles of Denmark also consider a 1902 trip to America.

New York July 11 Lawyer Milton G Palliser a Bryan faction leader said the Chicago platform is stronger not weaker and will push harder not retreat He argued the Ohio proceedings do not signal Clevelandism and that the main Democratic fight remains over delegates to the National convention with a potential party split if conservatives bow to concessions He suggested Bryan may not again be the presidential nominee but the party will fight for its principles and the masses against class rule
Governor Allen D. Candler Hoke Smith and Senator A S Clay express approval of the Ohio Democrats platform noting priorities on trusts imperialism and free silver. Candler urges focusing on trusts and imperialism and dropping free silver. Smith pleased with general features predicting conservatism and Clay calls bossism and extravagance the predominant evils.
William Davis aged 35 of Butler avenue was severely burned by crude carbolic acid at the Champion Coated Paper Company in Hamilton Ohio. While upending a cask he forgot it was open and acid splashed over his head eyes shoulders and upper body. He is married with two children.
In Newport News Virginia July 11 a group of about twelve striking machinists resumed work at the shipyard. A crowd gathered but did not clash with police who were posted at gates as a precaution. Superintendent Post travels to New York for machinists business.
