Boisterous yet lively night at the 1896 Democratic National Convention as speeches fill the evening, delegates cheer for Bland and Bryan amid chaotic scenes in the galleries. Miss Minnie F Murray of Iowa leads cheers for Boies as banners flood the hall and order frays beyond midnight.
At the Chicago convention on July 9, Bryan favored on the Chicago Handicap field as a motor of the night session. Bland leads in the crowd with strong support, while McLean praised for Place. Delegates throng seats, raise banners, and chant for Bland as the Democratic candidate for President.
In Cleveland July 9 Mark Hanna delays official cabinet lists for the coming campaign. He plans meetings with Maj. At the National Education Convention in Buffalo on July 9 a paper on The Function of Nature Study in the Culture of Moral Powers by Prof. David Starr Jordan of Stanford was read by Prof. Jackson of Cook County Normal School. The morning session focused on The Function of Nature Study in Education.
