Ice Strike Ends As Peace Pact Signed By All Sides

Walter A. Knight brokered a peace that ends the ice strike with a pact valid until April 1, 1914. The Cincinnati Ice Delivery Company plans to resume service soon and return property to manufacturers. Delivery will be reorganized to serve suburbs and city customers.

Johannesburg July 6 The Rand strike settlement proved ineffective and mobs reassembled. Trains and streetcar service halted, newspapers stopped, and troops guarded the Rand Club amid new clashes. A vast majority favored the proposed settlement in a reefwide ballot.

Plucky airman survives wild dirigible flight

Frank M. Gay, 21, from Ohio, was dragged from Palisade Amusement Park by a runaway dirigible. After a perilous 20 minute swim, he was rescued near Sands Point and recovered, while the balloon veered toward the Atlantic. The craft lacked engine or rudder and carried 7,000 cubic feet of gas.

Confessed Pearl Bryan Murder Ties to Ohio Slayings

Simeon Helfenstine, jailed for forging a $12,000 check, claims he killed Pearl Bryan in 1898 and six other Ohio victims from 1900 to 1910. He says accomplices William H.
