The Senate voted to begin consideration of the prohibition section with debate limited and aimed for final passage next week. Leaders push for a final vote by midweek or Thursday, with debate time capped for Gore amendments and substitutes.
Harrison H. Arms of Chicago president of the Arms Palace Horse Car Company died today at Mrs. C. W. Carey’s home in Marshall Michigan. Born in Adams New York in 1839 he previously owned livery and sales states in Toledo. Cremation planned in Detroit with ashes brought to Toledo for burial Saturday. He is survived by a widow and a sister.
Forecast calls for cloudy and warmer conditions in Ohio with thunder showers tonight or Saturday. Kentucky and Indiana expected scattered afternoon or evening showers with possible Saturday activity. West Virginia to remain fair and warmer with likely thunder showers Saturday. Temperature readings at multiple stations show a mix of highs and precipitations including 1106/10080 at Phoenix and 82/86 at Cincinnati with varying rain amounts.
The first detachment of Petrograd’s women regiment was blessed in Saint Is Cathedral's square on July 5. H K Slone led Magoffin County mountaineers accused of defrauding dealers nationwide of merchandise over 100000. Slone and 47 others pleaded guilty and received prison terms from one to three years. fines totaled 11000. Captain Max Blanchard, aged 87, longtime pilot and vessel owner on the Mississippi, died at his New Orleans home. He piloted the steamboat Robert E. Lee in the 1871 race to St. Louis against the Natchez, where the Lee burned at the finish.

Dedham Massachusetts July 5 Evidence presented to the grand jury on the murder indictment of Miss Harriet A Varney a hospital attendant charged with killing Mrs Pauline Keyes at Brookline on June 19. Varney held without bail in county jail shows no interest in the case while District Attorney F J Katzman plans to prove jealousy motivated the homicide.
