Cincinnati reports a holiday of fires caused mainly by fireworks with 35 alarms and one major blaze at 2218 Bedford Avenue, damaging the Haberer home and disrupting Walnut Hills traffic. Five fatalities and multiple injuries occur in Ohio from fireworks incidents as celebrations continue, while Cincinnati escapes fatal incidents.
Thousands gather at Ault Park for dedication of the new clubhouse. Speakers include Nicholas Longworth, Gov. Cooper, Mayor Wilson, and James Wilson, with Longworth predicting improving conditions and all stressing health and recreation. About 3,500 attendees heard the event.

Fire swept through the Mystic Creek area in Charlestown damaging lumber yards and coal pockets. Fire officials estimated damage from 250000 to nearly a million dollars as crews fought multiple alarms and lingered flames into the night.

Peter Buchman 31 of Covington fell into the Ohio River near Ludlow Kentucky while rescuing three girls from a toppled row boat. His body was recovered by the Ludlow Fire Department fifteen minutes later. The girls were pulled to safety as onlookers helped move the boat to shore. Officials suspect Buchman suffered cramps during the rescue.
In Wrigley Kentucky a Fourth of July confrontation between the Whitt and Gross families left George Gross and Bert Gross dead and Rufus Whitt seriously wounded with a likely death. Clarence Whitt was shot in the head. Sheriff Henry Perry said Coroner's inquest will be held tomorrow.
Across several sites on July 4, blasts caused deaths and injuries. In Winfield West Virginia two workers died and six were hurt at a road project dynamite blast. Castleford England, Hicksons Parsons works disaster killed eleven with over twenty injured and hundreds homeless. In Sarina Ontario two killed five seriously burned at Imperial Oil refinery cooking still. Philo Ohio a power plant oil tank explosion injured three.
Melbourne July 4. The senate voted 15 to 1 to reject the wheat marketing bill. The proposed measure would have guaranteed four shillings a bushel for next season's wheat and established a compulsory pool.
Heflin advocates a new party with Hugh A. Locke as Governor and Dempsey Powell as Lieutenant Governor. A mass meeting endorsed Heflin’s ticket and an amendment to allow white Democrats to run and vote in 1931. Powell condemned the Democratic state committee ruling barring non supporters from the August primary.
Sparta Illinois brothers John and Kenneth Hunter end a 553 hour 9 minute endurance flight at Sky Harbor Chicago. A fuel screen clog prevented oil flow near landing, forcing a hurried touchdown as thousands of cheering spectators overwhelm the field.
