Dispatches from Chios report a Turkish destroyer bombarded and captured a Greek sailing ship carrying hundreds of refugees to Chios, then shelled Goupi Islet and destroyed a monastery. Fishermen claim the transport was captured with no passengers aboard and allege drowning by the Turks. Greeks call it a casus belli and warn of possible war.
Special Dispatch reports near Dayton Ohio on July 4 a Pennsy crossroad collision killed Mrs. B. Co. Clark and her infant son while the Clark party, guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Shard of Ebenezer, were in an automobile struck by a train. Three others were badly injured.
The bodies of Archduke Francis Ferdinand and Duchess of Hohenberg arrived in Artstetten Austria and were interred after a simple ceremony in the castle chapel. The funeral crossed the Danube at Poechlarn at dawn and reached Artstetten by 6 o'clock. Priests and nuns offered prayers beside the catafalques for hours. Members of the imperial family arrived on two trains from Vienna. The coffins were carried through lines of army veterans and firemen to the family vaults for final resting.
Brigadier General R. K. Evans, former commander of the Department of the East, will receive a private reprimand from the President for an indiscreet banquet speech in New York. Evans sent Secretary Garrison a statement defending his remarks, which partially satisfied the President.

Dorothy Corken twelve daughter of Edward Corken secretary of the Central Illinois Light Company fatally burned while playing with fireworks this afternoon in Peoria Illinois July 4 19th century dispatch reported.
A huge bomb exploded in Tar rytown killing four people and injuring others. Police suspect a planned attack aimed at additional victims and authorities warn residents to stay clear of the area as crews comb the site for clues.
Philadelphia reports 170 people injured by fireworks during Independence Day observances. Nine remain in serious condition but are expected to recover. This total marks a notable decrease from last year’s Fourth of July injuries.
Harry Ketel sen and Faye Traver drowned in a launch accident on the Mississippi River at Clinton Iowa. Theodore Slowie tried to rescue Traver and was saved by the fourth occupant of the launch.

In Marietta Ohio on July 4 a firecracker tossed into a motorboat on the Ohio River caused an explosion. Clifford Stevens 15 Marietta was fatally injured and Mrs. Fred Brown of Sistersville West Virginia was seriously hurt.
Fine weather spurs a mass exodus to country and seashore around New York. A sunrise patriotic meeting opened the Central Park celebration. Nightfall brought million candle power park and public building illumination. By late hour hospitals reported fewer than thirty accidents, none fatal.
A Louisville party aboard a yacht en route to Cincinnati was wrecked when the steamer Indiana struck at 3 15 am opposite Rising Sun Indiana. Owner R T Durrett and guests were saved after crew and passengers aided by rescuers. Captain Phillips blamed the Indiana crew for the crash. The party reached Cincinnati by 10 am and sought safety at Mr Bell’s Grandin Road home.
In Jacksonburg Ohio Governor James M Cox recalled his boyhood and announced he had bought the old bell from the United Brethren Church tower. The bell, moved to Middletown 25 years ago, will be rehung in the village church during a Seven Mile homecoming attended by about 2 000 people and many former friends.
In Washington on July 4 a fake firecracker sits on President Wilson's desk. It cannot explode and is filled with gumdrops. The prop, gifted by eight year old Joseph Tumulty, carries a note warning not to eat too many as he says they will make you sick.
Madame Henrietta Caillaux, who killed Gaston Calmette, was visited in St Lazare by Judge Louis Albanel, head of the Criminal Court. The judge read the indictment and Caillaux affirmed her prior statements. She attributed trembling hands to a serum treatment this morning.
In Schenectady New York on July 4 the head and right arm of a murdered brunette about 25 were recovered from the Mohawk River. Identification remains unknown as investigators note surgical knowledge by the dissector and search for laundry marks. Elements of clothing surround the limb and officials broadcast a description to aid identification.
New York July 4 two planes competed in a 34 mile air race from Governor's Island to Spuyten Duyvil and back. Harold Kantor won in a fifty horse power craft earning the cup and $1,000 with a time around 43 4, likely seconds. Albert Heinrich flew in a different craft finishing second.
The Commercial Tribune reports Vice Consul Silliman is returning to Mexico to guard General Huerta against assassination planned by Constitutionalists after Mexico City falls. Maderists in rebel ranks seek revenge for Madero’s murder, risking U S recognition and stability efforts.
Reports say Silliman warned Carranza and Villa that any attack on Huerta would not be countenanced and that anarchy grows in Mexico City. Lascurain claimed to be chosen to succeed Huerta with the army chief sent abroad, while vote turnout was said to be light with candidates Velasco and Garcia Pena in the running.
