Special Dispatch from Portsmouth July 4 reports John Mc Millen of Lucasville split a cross tie and severed his left foot at the instep. His son recently suffered a similar accident.
Dr. Howard Carter reports 632 milk analyses in St. Louis with 191 below standard. He notes that brewers grains and waste from distilleries and vinegar factories enable dairies to exist and feed cattle cheaply. Crowds visited the Ross County scene of farmer Gendelsberger’s murder as bloodhounds trailed the killers through a cornfield toward a road. Two young men, known to have prior trouble, fled the county yesterday, and a buggy trail is now believed abandoned.

Mrs. George McGowan aged forty seven wife of a farmer living east of Peebles Ohio was bitten on the arm by a snake about six weeks ago. The wound healed quickly but she suffered severe pains and swelling in the right arm yesterday and died this morning in agony.

John Herbert of Kokomo was struck on the head with a gas pipe by John Fehrenbach, also of Kokomo, in Galveston. Herbert owed Fehrenbach 2750, and Fehrenbach was bound over for 1000. The attack occurred yesterday evening. Herbert’s wounds may prove fatal.
Nicholas Ray a horse trader shot and instantly killed Hon. Albert Scott a Glasgow lawyer in Edmonton Metcalfe County after a prior lawsuit dispute. They met as Ray opened fire striking Scott twice in the breast.
