Washington July 2 The Ship Sales Committee of the Shipping Board approved a sale plan for the U S Lines and American Merchant Lines. Chairman O Connor said the plan would be submitted to the full board. The panel discussed reconditioning former German liners Mount Vernon and Monticello with $10 million authorized by Congress and up to $2 million extra from operating funds.

One Killed In Oil Tank Fire At Syracuse Plant
A blast at the Sun Oil Company plant in Syracuse New York killed one man and burned him to death. Eight storage tanks containing 100000 gallons of gasoline and 10000 gallons of high grade oil were destroyed in the ensuing fire. The explosion occurred on the north side of the city early today.

Plane Fire Kills Three Near Meadow South Dakota
Meadow South Dakota July 2 Three persons burned to death when an airplane they rode in caught fire shortly after takeoff. Pilot Ames of Rapid City, Bartell of Shadehill, and Chester Gibson of Meadow died as flames engulfed the craft. Picot Ames had invited the men for a ride for a local celebration. The crash occurred moments after lifting off and the victims were identified only after the fire subsided.

Naval Aviators Killed In Sea Plane Crash At Newport
Two naval officers died when a Corsair seaplane from the Concord crashed into Newport harbor during loops. Lieut. Commander Thalbert Nelson Alford, 41, of Texas, died almost instantly. Lieut.
