The annual municipal tennis tournament begins this afternoon at 1:30 on the Evanston Tennis Club courts at Clavion and Evanston Avenues Evanston. Finals follow next weekend with sixteen singles matches scheduled this afternoon and events including men’s doubles and boys’ doubles.

Cleveland Indians pitcher Stan Coveleskie traveled from Detroit for examination by Dr. H. M. Castle to assess a strained right side likely involving intercostal muscle fibers. Castles says recovery length is uncertain. The inquiry follows a game played yesterday in Detroit.

The La Maceda Bowling Club defeated Koors Twenty Nine of Dayton at Mergard's Ideal Parlors Cumminsville. La Maceda won the series by 354 pins and totaled 2872 pins a sensational early season score.
Robert Brown defeated Alvin Werner in the final to win the Class A caddies tournament at Hillcrest Country Club yesterday. Brown also posted the low medal score of 94 in qualifying. Alfred Schoenberg er beat Ralph Apking in Class B, while Edwin Werner overcame L. Stevens in Class C. Jim Brophy, Hillcrest Club pro, conducted the event.
The first round of the national industrial championship begins at Oakley Park with Newport Rolling Mill facing Shillitos, M. and M. League pennant winners, as part of a double bill. The Andrews Steel Club meets American Oak in the second game to follow at 3:30.
