Mexico City dispatch reports Guanajuato flood after June 30 storm. Wires down and roads impassable. City built in a gorge. lower streets flooded, property losses mounting. Early counts claim over 100 dead with one estimate reaching about 1000. Marfilo wiped out. Hotel Union flooded. rail and streetcar service disrupted for weeks.

Special Dispatch from Minneapolis July 2 Bishop Isaac W Joyce of the Methodist Church suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and subsequent paralysis while preaching to a large Red Rock gathering. He is 69 and his pre Minnesota six years as presiding missionary bishop in China and Japan is noted. Born 1836 in Hamilton County Ohio his boyhood and education were in Indiana. He joined the North Indiana Conference in 1859 and rose through rural to wider fields. he was occupying the principal
Fire at 1642 West Wood Avenue drew cheers as John Heck of Ladder Co 11 carried unconscious Miss Elizabeth Walker from third-floor flames. Explosion from a gas can started the fire, with owner John Hater and Mrs Hetz escaping. Walker suffered shock but recovered. Losses totaled about 600 dollars.
The City of Louisville sustained a serious river accident on the return from Louisville with hundreds of Cincinnati excursionists aboard. A cylinder head blew out and a propeller shaft broke as she moved toward Aurora. Initial reports suggested fatalities, but steamboat officials denied any injuries and provided few details while towing the disabled vessel to Cincinnati with Levi J. Workum assisting. Hercules Carrel was later sent to help.
A special train carried Secretary Hay’s body from Newbury New Hampshire to Cleveland for interment. The funeral party included Mrs. Hay widow Clarence Hay Dr Charles L Scudder and S A Raymond among others, with the train scheduled to arrive in Cleveland at 7 50 a m.
The Morning Post reports Japanese troops near Vladivostok and a looming clash on the Tumen. Roosevelt announces Russian Baron Muravieff and Baron Rosen as envoys, and Japanese envoy Baron Komura for the Washington peace conference.
