Washington January 30 The executive branch plans continued effort to adjust the gold to silver ratio in Orient and other silver using nations. Congress will be asked to appoint a three man financial experts commission to represent the United States at an international money conference. The panel can only advise with no binding commitments and Congress must act to adopt any change.
In Vienna on January 30 the Reichsrath halted sessions amid a sugar policy clash. Sugar refiners without authorization met in a committee room to press their views, sparking pandemonium as lawmakers condemned the intrusion and ejected those who refused to leave.

Twenty of fifty five Lockport factories closed with newspaper plants and smaller firms idle. The blaze followed a lightning bolt that struck a cable and caused a transformer explosion.

The War Department filed its answer in federal court denying that Lt. Frank B. Edwards rank was reduced by the army regulation act of February 1921 or that his promotion was delayed. It asserts courts cannot review War Department records and that executive actions rest with the President and Secretary of War.
