Campbell died at St Elizabeth's hospital after midnight.
Cape Town Cape Colony January 23 observers report earth shocks that lasted fifty minutes at the Cape observatory with no immediate injuries or damage noted.
The weather bureau seismographs recorded a distant earthquake late last evening. The bulletin says the event matches the Italian earthquake in character and intensity and likely originated about 4000 miles away, closer to Washington.
Will Johnson and Will Hamlin testified in the Union City night riders case. Johnson said the Reelfoot group shared passwords with the black patch and described meetings with Ed Marshall and others. He claimed the plan was to whip Captain Ranken and Colonel Taylor as they walked to Hickman Kentucky. Hamlin, a confessed rider, turned state's evidence after fearing conviction.
Carrie Nation invaded London tonight and created a disturbance at Oxford Music Hall. She was ejected from the venue in a disorderly protest at the London arrival on January 23.
City Marshal Witherby is shot dead by Walter Henderson son in law in Camden Ohio. Henderson then fires at his wife missing her, and shoots himself. Henderson and Witherby die instantly, Witherby leaves a wife and three children. Henderson reportedly acted after jealousy and suspicion about his wife.
Superior Judge Shattuck refused Tolman’s bid for an injunction to stop prosecution under the loan shark ordinance. The judge said the circuit court already upheld the ordinance and Tolman has no property rights to protect. An appeal from police court conviction remains Tolman’s only path.
