In Philadelphia on January 23 Judge Gross granted a sub bill to stop the issuance of a fraudulent imitation by Mr. Bryan. The injunction bars the publishers from continuing the deceptive work alleged to be written and sold as the original. The ruling involves the end of care and the alleged misrepresentation of authorship and rights.
B P Waggener the Atchison mayor and noted lawyer vetoes a recent theater hat ordinance claiming it violates the US Constitution by discriminating against women. The mayor, a leading Western attorney for Missouri Pacific, cites broad opposition to such bans as antitheater hat measures spread to other cities.

Police report a bold late night attempt at robbery in Muncie Indiana. Thieves stole a team of horses and a sled bound for a general store but fled when spotted by moonlight. Citizens formed a posse and chased the robbers until they released the horses and escaped uninjured with no store contents.
Chicago reports Lyman J. Gage indicated he would accept the Treasury portfolio if offered by President-elect McKinley. Gage told reporters he would not decline if chosen and awaits direct notification while bank directors pace the possibility of losing a valued executive.
