He was shot in the face and two posse members were injured. Kuhns denied firing on the Logansport officer and claimed he had stayed with his brother in Noble County until last Saturday.
Secretary Root approves the Board of Ordnances and Fortifications plan for a six inch rapid firing gun with pedestal mount and shield. The breech mechanism is a key feature and eight shots per minute are guaranteed.

The first for 15 000 000 at 4 percent for fifty years goes to Farmers Loan and Trust Company New York City and Daniel Wood of Indiana. Revenue stamps cost 7500. The second for 1 500 000 at 4 percent for fifty years goes to Colonial Trust Company New York and W G Crabhill of Indiana. Revenue stamps cost 750.
Dr. Leslie Reese of Minerva Kentucky died after a roman candle ball shot up his coat sleeve. His arm burned, blood poisoning developed, linked to Christmas night fireworks by local boys. Reese was the son of Isaac Reese of Shelby County.
In Wheeling West Virginia on January 19 William Pratt and companion George Mc Elfree drowned after Pratt overturned a skiff while trying to recover a keg of beer that had fallen into the water near Wellsburg.
