Mormons in Chihuahua State refuse to come to the United States despite guidance from the American government. About 500 colonists plan to stay under Carranza garrisons at Casas Grandes and other posts until bandits are cleared. Four men were killed and ten injured, five seriously, when an explosion rocked the submarine E-2 during drydock repairs at the New York Navy Yard. The dead include an enlisted electrician and three civilian workers. among the injured are multiple Brooklyn residents. Washington C. H. Ohio January 15. Reverend F M Clemans former superintendent of the Hamilton County Anti Saloon League and longtime minister of the Cincinnati Methodist Conference died today at age 80. Burial is planned for Jamestown Monday morning.

The Austrian War Office reports 5100 Russian prisoners captured on the East Galicia and Bessarabia front as German and Austrian forces repulse several Russian assaults near Toporoutz and east of Raranoze. The tally includes 30 officers.
Berlin reports another air victory by Lieutenant Soelke, a famed German aviator, as the War Office confirms the repulse of a Russian attack along the Styr River in the eastern war theater. The official communication continues on page two.
Dr Henry Van Dyke American Minister at The Hague has left for a brief official trip to the United States. He is aboard the steamer Rotterdam which sailed from Rotterdam today, according to a Reuters dispatch.
