A Cedar Rapids mother Mrs George McGillen left at 5 30 pm to visit a neighbor. She found her children Ruth seven and George junior four burned to death in their bedroom. She fainted and may die from burns. In Mississippi at Tylertown Otis Dierper a nine year old son and six year old Mary Inez perished in a burning barn after their mother left to tend an infant. She returned to find the door locked and smoke pouring from the building.

Four Die When Car Hit by Train at Speedway Crossing
Four Indianapolis men died when their car was struck by a Big Four freight train at the Speedway crossing near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The victims named were L. F. Poland the driver and passengers John Q. Mullen Charles Meyer and Frank-Glenn Ryker. Witnesses said Poland drove directly in front of the train and acquaintances noted he was deaf.
