Detectives with Mt. Adams Welfare Association traced a false alarm at Hatch and Fuller streets to an eleven year old newsboy who confessed after being found at a local school. Safety Director Charles Tudor cited resident complaints about slow responses after the hilltop community was abandoned seeking faster service. The boy said friends dared him to pull the alarm and fled after hearing the buzz. He promised not to repeat the act.

Four Entombed as Mine Squeeze Hits Glen Alden Coal Mine
Scranton Pa Jan 13 Four men were entombed and three injured when a mine cave in at the Glen Alden Coal Companys National mine.
