Adams County, West Union, reports a prolific forger and escape artist named George How who has eluded lawmen for two years. Despite bloodhounds and multiple deputies, none capture him as he robs in daylight and sparked a large reward. The latest burglary targeted Rev Oscar Collins at his home near Peebles with $50 missing from a pocketbook. Multiple searches pursue leads to How's kin's house, but no arrest yet.

Her husband and two children are missing, and some families refuse to identify themselves fearing the hall proprietor is blamed.
