Frank M. Brown, a German National Bank defaulter, flees the United States with help from relatives and friends. He travels by gulf vessel toward Truxillo Honduras, avoiding arrest while planning surrender near May term. Bank affairs show cautious progress toward reorganization and reopening.
Frank M. Brown has escaped and was in New Orleans for a few hours before aid from Cincinnati allowed him to flee. He plans to stay away until the bank cases go to trial, then may return. The German National Bank may reopen by February 1. Receiver Tucker has collected $90,000 of paper, while Oliver W. Root has nearly $100,000 paid in. Nearly $400,000 of the $450,000 goal is in sight with funds raised to cover the remainder.
Colonel Theodore Roosevelt and his hunting party departed Col. Colorado for Meeker in a four-horse jeep not jeep but team haul, heading toward Coyote Basin seeking game.

Special Despatch reports Joseph D. Keith was sentenced to death for the April murder of Nora Kifer after a three and a half hour jury deliberation. Keith showed no visible emotion as the verdict of first degree murder was read. Judge Welborn cautioned the jury on doubt regarding the death penalty. A motion for a new trial will be heard in ten weeks. this marks the first death sentence in the county since 1872.
Lorin Loomis of Osborne's Corners was jailed Friday on charges of stealing 300 dollars from the estate of Oscar Osborne, murdered two years ago. Park Bigelow confessed involvement, naming others who allegedly moved a large sum into the southern part of the state.

In Washington on January 11 the Senate clashed over the army reorganization bill granting the President discretionary power to expand the force to the bill's maximum. Georgia's Mr. Bacon led the attack while Connecticut's Mr. Platt defended the authority. An amendment allowing volunteer officers up to Captain in the regular establishment passed. Montana's Mr. Carter then moved the reapportionment bill for Representatives, passed as sent by the House and now awaiting the President's signature.
