At Chicago meeting on January 10 1919 the Republican National Committee endorsed universal female suffrage by constitutional amendment praised Theodore Roosevelt and planned a permanent Roosevelt memorial funding by public subscription The group criticized the Democratic administration as socialist and Bolshevik leaning and discussed hinting at a 1920 presidential candidate while nominating Hays to lead committees and recognizing Democratic minority tax criticisms by Governor Beeckman and others.
