J Riley Martin 69 of Coldwater Ohio was hurled from the rear step of a Clark street car No 9 onto Spring Grove avenue in front of the Avenue hotel. He suffered probable skull fracture and internal injuries. The incident followed a jerked start as he began to step down. Martin, a stock dealer, is staying at the Avenue hotel on business. He was hospitalized in critical condition with little hope for recovery. Motorman Thomas Smith claimed he did not see Martin leave the car. Conductor D Whitney signaled to stop and then resumed as Martin attempted to alight. Police Sergeant Nimmo and Patrol 10 transported him to the city hospital.
Edward P. Flach 58, vice president of Flach Bros. Grocery, died after a two month illness at 196 Kinney Avenue. A Cincinnati native, he built a major wholesale grocery by his energy with his brothers. Survived by widow Adaline Story, a son Edward J. Flach, a daughter, and two brothers. Services set for tomorrow at 10 AM. interment in Long Grove cemetery.
In Tell City Indiana on January 7 Joseph Weigang barricaded himself inside his home after allegedly shooting his neighbor's wife Mrs. Charles Drewry. He exchanged many shots with the marshal and a surrounding posse before surrendering. Authorities say he was mentally deranged and may have been driven to insanity.
The Treasury Department asks Congress for a further 112,140 dollars to cover the cost of purchasing distinctive paper for United States security in the next fiscal year. The request follows an earlier appropriation to support paper currency production.

Bills to place life’s necessities on the free list sparked by Representative Mann, with Hill and others seeking strict limits on amendments to the tariff bill.
Former Senator Chester I Long testified before the House committee that he arranged to receive 10 percent of McMurray’s fee in Choctaw and Chickasaw land cases in addition to expenses. He said the arrangement depended on government recognition of the contracts and noted he represented McMurray in two hearings with the attorney general and interior secretary.
A special Norfolk and Western funeral train carrying President Johnsons mother and family passengers derailed near Kermit West Virginia after the engine struck a rock on the hillside. No injuries reported.
