Lifeboat story from liner Gregory recounts brave officers leaping into freezing water to rescue five crew members. Thirteen survivors accounted for. six rescued sailors presumed drowned and nine others missing in a separate craft.
Boston and New York dispatches recount the Oklahoma breaking in two during a Barnegat storm. Thirteen survivors remain aboard the Bavaria after nine more crew were pulled from lifeboats. twenty five dead. Officers Buck Williams Roberts and sacrifice noted. Rescue efforts by Gregory captains and crew praised.
Fraulein Von Fuld reportedly transfers a fortune of 25 million to her titled husband in a high society marriage. Details of the transfer and the wedding arrangements remain confined to society circles.
Paul McCall, 9, was shot dead by George Short, 13, in the Elkton high school yard. Short ordered McCall to buy cartridges for a pistol. when refused, Short fired. The two boys had been target shooting behind the school. Short was arrested.

In Aguascalientes rebels captured a train at Espiritu Santo near La Honda and, believing it carried federals, exploded a mint causing the train to blow up. Eighty men were killed or injured in the blast.

Attorney J M Dawson urges a city backed no direct administration approach. he favors a five member commission to construct the canal inter urban entrance and terminal, arguing commissions provide stability for long projects and citing City Hall Water Works and courthouse as precedents. He discussed with Representative Bigelow and may push a bill at the General Assembly special session. He notes no tunnel is needed and proposes a cost cap under three million dollars, challenging higher estimates.
Five men are dead and three injured after a fast spreading blaze at Gus Kearn’s lodging house and restaurant on Second and Railroad streets in Newark. The victims include John Liggett 40 Gus Hogel 30 Louis Stelzer 44 Joseph McFarland 40 and an unidentified man about 40. George Prior survived by sliding down a water pipe in only underwear. Proprieter Gus Kearn was away in Columbus.
