In Paris on January 4, Serbian Minister to France M. R. Vesnitch told the Associated Press that Serbia would not accept Italy occupying the eastern Adriatic if the 1915 secret treaty with England France Russia and Italy is ratified. He stressed Serbia seeks justice and fair play from the peace conference and American leadership. Irene Hayford known as Karna Hayford of Ogden was killed in Pittsburg by Dionesios Cakenoulis formerly of Salt Lake City. She left Ogden last July after her husband was drafted into service in New Jersey. Green has no details on the case.
An observation airplane reached Detroit from Ellington Field Houston covering 1650 miles in 724 minutes flying time. Piloted by Captain L J Robinson with Lieutenant A A Adams as observer the flight tested Liberty engines under severe cold and adverse weather. The trio left Houston December 21 on a gulf to Detroit and return map mission.
Secretary of War Baker spoke to the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce urging that peace conference efforts at Versailles include a League of Nations or other restraint to prevent future wars.
