The fugitive cashier Frank Brown, now low on funds, left Honduras fearing treaty-port detection and plans to return home. Receiver Tucker notes Brown’s indifference to risk, hopes for his capture to clear Remme, and mentions Brown’s possible meeting with Marion Smith in New Orleans or Cincinnati.
A four karat diamond stud valued at $1000 stolen from Gus Gerstle, shoe manufacturer, was mailed back to him. He opened the package to find the gem intact except the spiral broken, suggesting a novice thief who later mailed it from this city. The owner suspects the theft occurred at his office earlier that day.

In Richmond on January 4 two prominent society men Mayo Binford and Charles Williams resolved a personal feud with a two minute fist fight in a private house. Both had witnesses, Williams appeared to have the edge though Binford did not yield easily. Seconds separated the men and friends hoped the matter ends here.
London reports confirm plague at Wladivestock with nineteen cases and fifteen deaths. The outbreak is noted as severe and evolving, with authorities tracing the spread and calling for heightened public health measures.
Walter A. Weinstock, accused of assaulting 19 year old Nellie Morris in Hackney Morgan County, fled after slashing her with a razor. She lies near death. a mobGathering grows as doctors treat her and guards hold the suspect under heavy protection. Authorities fear a lynching before dawn and plan to move him to McConnelsville Jail if possible.
In Dresden, Ohio, Ralph Stub, four year old son of Mr and Mrs Howard Stuller, died at 3 AM after eight weeks of illness from hydrophobia contracted from a mad dog bite. He had two weeks treatment at the Pasteur Institute in Chicago, then returned home where symptoms persisted with repeated convulsions until death.
Lord Roberts thanks the public for the reception in London and praises South African soldiers. He appeals for contributions to the Soldiers and Sailors Association, supporting the Prince of Wales efforts to assist families of fighting men.

United States Senator Lucien Baker withdrew as a candidate for re election at noon today in Topeka Kansas. Baker said he was satisfied he could not be elected and expressed gratitude to supporters. The move leaves the nomination apparently secured for J R Burton.
In Constantinople near Ishtik, a clash arose while attempting to arrest Bulgarians suspected as Macedonian Committee emissaries. Eight soldiers were killed and the unrest continues.
