Doris Turner a sixteen year old girl who vanished yesterday returned home with hands bound a gag and blindfold after a frightening ordeal at Grant Park. She described being abducted by a man in a car who offered a ride then bound her and forced a letter from her. She was not molested and is under physician care. Separately Deputy Marshal John Kiener tied new evidence to a green automobile tied to the Orrville kidnapping of Melvin Horst and a home near Elias Arnold where suspects were arrested.

The American Army monoplane Question Mark set a new refueling endurance mark after taking off New Year’s Day from Metropolitan Airport Los Angeles. Surgeon's Death After Ethylene Drum Explosion at Hospital
In Evansville Indiana on January 3 a surgeon Dr Dalton Wilson of Walker Hospital was killed when a drum of ethylene gas he tried to repair exploded in the hospital surgery lab. Attendant Edward Taylor escaped with a broken leg and serious injuries. Wilson's body was blown through a six inch wall as two receiving rooms were shattered and windows broken. A spark from metal on the drum is thought to have ignited the gas.
