The three time Arkansas governor served as governor 1900 1907 and was elected to the Senate for the term starting 1908. He was born May 6 1862 and studied at Vanderbilt. Washington, Jan. 2. The sudden death of Senator Jeff Davis of Arkansas shocks his friends in the capital. Davis left for Christmas at home Dec. 13 and had recent dizziness but appeared in spirits. Since 1907 he chaired the Mississippi River and tributaries committee and served on several others. A funeral committee will be named soon with Arkansas delegation and others to follow rites. Telegrams were sent to his family.
