President elect Taft denied a report that Charles P. Taft would succeed Whitelaw Reid as ambassador to the Court of St James. He said no cabinet changes would be considered before his picks are made and the cabinet likely not complete until March 4. Roosevelt Sends Aid Ships and Fleet Offer to Italy

President Roosevelt announced two supply ships carrying 300000 dollars worth of food and provisions were sent to Italy. He will seek additional aid from Congress and offered use of the U S battle fleet if useful. The message, to American Italian relief leader Patrick F McGowan, notes plans to keep Congress informed and to aid Southern Italy after the Mount Pelée disaster.

Death Follows Cantor Shooting From Shock

Mrs. Fannie Cantor wife of cigar maker Joseph Cantor died after a shooting case that left Grace Maddox injured. Mose Jackigh of Covington was arrested for attempted murder as the Cantors’ home at 818 Main Place Avondale is noted. Survivors include three daughters Evelyn Alma and Ethel.

Fort Thomas Infantryman Cut in Fight Over Woman

A late night fight over a woman left Theodore Honchell mortally wounded after a knife cut. Henry Beatty and Grace Bolser, with Walter Bisher, were arrested as detectives described a quarrel that began when the soldiers confronted Grace Bolser at her Sixth and Mound street apartments. Bisher claimed self defense after Honchell attacked him with a paper cutter, which cut Honchell’s abdomen. Grace Bolser and Beatty remain in custody as the investigation continues.
