Mayesville Ky tobacco sales reached 309 875 pounds with top price $27 50 and a low of $2 The market was the best of the season though offerings were only medium Receipts are heavy and tobacco is in good condition bringing strong prices.
In MT and Sterling Ky on December 31, only two houses sold tobacco after breaks. prices rose for inferior quality. Farmers' House moved 8,000 pounds at 9.51 per hundredweight, with few rejections. White Hall sold 133,500 pounds with no average quoted. Sales proceed tomorrow.
The Brooksville market opened with a stronger tone than this season and buyers and sellers satisfied. A total of 43 900 lbs sold for an average of 8 92 with a high basket of 18 cents. Several crops surpassed 10 dollars with crops from House Bros. E C Dickson C J Kolb and J Al Clark posting strong averages.
Report to the clerk shows 3,473 civil cases filed in 1914 with 340 pending. The conciliation department handled 350 claims, 49 dismissed as meritless, the rest settled. A total of 2,963 warrants were issued, 99 more than the prior year.
City Auditor Liemann reports January 1 1914 treasury at 6 265 929 91. Receipts from all sources total 12 980 061 95 for the year, making 19 246 001 86. Disbursements amount to 13 908 616 62, leaving a treasury balance of 5 387 475 34 on December 31.
