New York, Dec 31. Alexander Garr famed for Potash and Perlmutter is defendant in a $50,000 breach of promise suit brought by his divorced wife Mrs Carr. He allegedly signed a deed that was actually a release of $17,933 alimony arrears from their 1919 divorce. Carr says she was lured and has lived with him since 1906.
Passengers unaware as fire erupts aboard the Cunard liner Antonia bound from New York two days after Christmas. Originating in the linen storeroom, the blaze was contained by officers and crew as the ship rode heavy seas. Passengers only realized trouble when dinner was served late.
