Helpman confessed to the bombing and named Bush as the plotter after a chase led to his arrest in Fostoria.
Governor Nash grants pardon to Benjamin Schroelucke who was convicted in Oct 1901 by the Court of Common Pleas of Auglaize County for forgery and sentenced to two years at the Ohio Penitentiary. The pardon cites hysterical paralysis and characterizes the crime as technical and lacking motive.
In Fortland Oregon on January 31 Joseph Wade and B H Dalton were executed in the county jail yard for the November 14 murder and robbery of James B Morrow fair twenty five cents the loot. Wade declared before the noose that he was not happy.

Cleveland Jan 31 Attorney Frank H Ginn as assignee of Euclid Avenue Trust and Savings Company compromised more than 70000 in bank claims against C H Stewart the bank's secretary and treasurer The court granted the motion and the compromise was effected Stewart filed two mortgages on Wilson avenue and Walnut street properties securing 46000 in notes The bank gains added security and Stewart who had disappeared returned home ill and is described as a heavy speculator blamed for the bank's troubles.
Parkersburg West Virginia January 31 ex Councilman W W Moore was found guilty of accepting a bribe while in city office and faces up to a year in jail and a fine not to exceed 1000 He owns a leading saloon and has been a Republican ward leader The verdict stemmed from a street use dispute between two harvesting firms and a parade Moore seeks a new trial while former Mayor C H Turner unsettled Greer the bribery case witness may lead to indictments for W B Hupp
Sequel to the Allegheny Jail escape reports Edward and John Biddle murderers shot by pursuing officers. Edward Biddle wounded through the lung with a poor chance of recovery. John Biddle riddled by buckshot but may live. Mrs Soffel wounded in the breast by a self inflicted wound as capture neared. her pistol shot deflected by a cornet.
Edward Biddle lies dying after a gun duel with Pittsburg detectives near Mt. Chestnut. John Biddle is badly wounded and Mrs. Soffel, shot in the breast, survives thanks to a deflected bullet. The trio fled from jail, battled a posse for hours, and were cornered at McClure's barn two miles east of Prospect.
