The American National Bank of Lima Ohio reorganizes after a December 25 robbery. Joseph Goldsmith, N L Michael, and Gus Kalb resign as officers. Theodore Mayo becomes President, R W Thrift Vice President, F A Holland Cashier. Capital stock replenished to 100000 with 15 percent stock assessment. Directors pledge confidence in retiring officers. legal action announced against the Commercial Tribune for libel. A January 10 annual meeting will likely reelect officers.
The Moran Kansas Bank directors Joshua Rumble W A Rags J H Ross William Parke and cashier E A Brown have been in Allen County Jail nearly a week on charges under the 1897 Kansas banking law. They sought habeas corpus relief. Judge Schoonover granted $200 bonds each until March 14 for further court review, contending the law's constitutionality and technical information issues. The order was wired to Allen County.
A Boston case involves salvage of a derelict body found by Gloucester fishermen. The libel claims salvage for United States and French money valued at 1050 dollars tied to the dead man's belongings from the La Bourgogne disaster.
