Cole Sentenced to 24 Years in Camargo Bank Robbery Case
Wilbur J. Cole, once of 2845 May Street, pleaded guilty to conspiracy in the Camargo Bank heist at Madeira Ohio on November 19 and was sentenced by Judge Edward M. Hurley in Criminal Court to 24 years in the penitentiary. He aided five robbers who forced the cashier to open the vault, taking about 6000 dollars. Cole, arrested after hiding steel saw blades in a shoe sole, was linked to other crimes in New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio and face charges in Michigan and Dayton. He appeared handcuffed with two co-defendants and was sent to prison immediately after sentencing. Special guards escorted him, and he warned the victims he would not want to be in their shoes.
