Special Dispatch to Commercial Tribune reports a six story factory at 534 538 West Fifty-eighth Street burned, destroying the building and threatening nearby tenements with gas tanks at risk. Firemen battled the flames, saved surrounding homes, and coordinated ladders and hoses as Roosevelt Hospital patients were alarmed and bystanders watched a dramatic window struggle. One fireman injured by falling glass.

Judge Tuley of Chicago Dies in Kenosha Sanatorium
Judge Murray Floyd Tuley, renowned Chicago jurist, died at Pennoyer Sanitarium in Kenosha after nervous exhaustion from overwork. A private Chicago funeral will be held with a memorial service next Sunday at Jenkin Lloyd Jones Church. Tuley, born 1827 in Louisville, served since 1879 on Cook County Circuit Bench and had few reversals by the Supreme Court. His body will be brought to Chicago for burial.

Santa Claus Beaten by Five Thugs in Newport Attack
Charles Jarvis of Saratoga Street Newport was assaulted while returning from a Christmas gift distribution in a church. Five hold-up men struck him, stole $5 and his gold watch and chain, and left him unconscious. He suffered a broken wrist, severed thumb, fractured nose, and multiple cuts. Grand Island Nebraska December 25 George Poell County Clerk elect received President Roosevelts letter announcing the first medal of honor under the 1905 act for saving a child at the risk of his life. Poell, a locomotive fireman, ran along the engine to uplift the child from the track but was struck and lost a leg in the act of bravery.
