Avondale Synagogue to Rise at Reading and Lexington
The Avondale Synagogue Congregation plans a new building at the northeast corner of Reading road and Lexington avenue. Expected occupancy late in 1926, the temple includes a 1500 seat main auditorium and a 600 seat secondary hall with stage. Facilities include classrooms, kitchen, library, rabbi’s study rooms, and superintendent apartment. Reading road frontage features six 36 foot Corinthian columns and an Italian marble shrine in a classic design. Oscar Schwartz is the architect.
