Mrs. Cleveland spent the afternoon in Princeton sightseeing and inspecting the property recently purchased by President Cleveland. Geo White, twelve, a Columbus newsboy, was found badly cut and bruised by the Little Miami bridge after delivering papers at the penitentiary. He says a drunken full grown man cursed and knocked him with a coupling pin, then cut him with a razor and struck him again. He was brought to his home on Kimball Street and may not survive. no arrest has been made.
Special dispatch from Ackosogville Florida reports Antonio Maceo, the Cork of the Cuban army, is dead by Spanish treachery. J A Huau, Cuban Junta agent, cites a Havana letter detailing the assassination, stating Maceo’s death changes the Cuban struggle and deepens calls for support from Ohio volunteers heading to Cuba.
The text declares Cuba will endure and resist, accusing Dr Zertucha and acting Captain General Ahumada of murdering Maceo and thirty four staff. It claims Maceo accepted a peace offer only to be treacherously ambushed on December 7, with Zertucha the lone survivor. Spaniards allegedly hide Maceo's body and promise a later reveal. The article foresees intensified Cuban resolve and Spain's sorrow.

Special Dispatch reports William Sutherlin awaiting arrest on suspicion of killing Edward Fetters after a November 9 dispute in front of a country schoolhouse in Starke County. Neighbors heard five shots and found five bullets in Fetters’s head. Fetters had lived with Sutherlin in Plymouth. his body was buried near Eagle Lake with a mule’s skinned corpse left atop.

The full committee’s autumn conference lasted about two and a half hours with dates to be fixed after Democratic attendance.

In St Louis on December 12 H C Ullrich died from morphine poisoning during Christmas season. The article notes Christmas had personal significance for Ullrich as he was born and married on Christmas day and lost his wife on December 27 nine years earlier. His annual melancholia worsened and prompted the fatal dose last night.
Senator Tellier of Colorado arrived at the Capitol for the first time this session. He met with silver men about elections in states under their control where no party has a majority. He declined to outline any policy, saying he would meet matters as they develop. He avoided the Republican caucus question and would not comment on the international time proposition.

Canton Ohio December 12 Many callers were received by Major McKinley this morning. He stayed indoors as his reception began just before 10 o'clock and ran through lunch. Notable visitors included ex Adjutant General Howe of Indiana Samuel J Randall of Philadelphia and Colonel Hower of Sandusky a Twenty third Ohio National Guard member.
Mark Hanna, chairman of the Republican National Committee, departed Philadelphia for Cleveland at 8:50 PM. He rode from Merion after an impromptu day visiting the Pennsylvania Railroad offices and meeting several people. The evening was spent with Mr. Thomson and a few unnamed friends, with officials stressing no political significance.

Springfield police think W H Bradley arrested in Altoona for forgery is Frank Bradley of this city who escaped a Pontiac reform school in November last for forging checks on the Big Four. After arriving here he supposedly forged a check on A Todd & Co clothiers for six and the descriptions of the two men are said to be quite similar.
To the Editor of the Commercial Tribune SPENCERVILLE O dec 12 The safe in the office of Mauk Reynolds note dealers was blown open. Notes amounting to 700 to 900 dollars were taken. The article mentions apprehension of the robbers and a report of the incident.

Miss May L. Collins of Midway Kentucky aged 21 was found dead in Boston beside 85 year old 8.5 Putnam of Chicago. A former student at Daughters College Harrodsburg she wrote for the Blue Grass Blade an infidel temperance paper. Her editor C C Moore is noted for blasphemous writings and had previous jail terms.
