Long distance messages from Sunny Side on the Brazos River report fifty drowned and hundreds marooned in Waller County as the flood rises. A special train with motorboats and provisions left Houston to aid victims while boats are rushed into service. Refugees cling to trees and rooftops as residents warned too late. Missing include Andrew Buchanan and C D Deman.
Rescue work along forty miles of the Brazos Valley reports 2000 or more refugees needing food and clothing. 700 to 1000 marooned in gun houses and plantations. missing planters found safe. Temperature drop worsens conditions. most affected are black tenants.
