Mrs Taft Matriarch Dies After Long Illness in Millbury
Special Dispatch to Commercial Tribune from Millbury Mass. announces the death of Mrs Louisa Maria Taft mother of William H Taft Secretary of War. She suffered acute indigestion and a gradual decline. Taft rushed to Canada then returned to Washington to fulfill duties as her condition worsened. She leaves four children including Secretary Taft and step son Charles P Taft. She was born September 11 1827 in Boston and later lived with her sister Miss Delia Torrey in Millbury.

Taft Sails From Cuxhaven En Route to New York
The steamer President Grant carrying Secretary Taft and his party left Cuxhaven at noon for New York via Boulogne and Plymouth.
