After nine teen hours of deliberation the jury in Judge Belden's court failed to reach a verdict in the murder case of Clara Schubert Veenemann against her husband Edward Veenenmann Harm street saloonist. Initial ballots split eight for second degree murder two for manslaughter and two for acquittal. Final tally eleven for manslaughter and one for acquittal. Mrs Veenemann sent to jail on five thousand dollar bond awaiting January term. The shooting occurred June 26 after a quarrel with her husband who was shot through the head.

Four Killed in Railway Wreck Near Pittsburg
The fast Baltimore & Ohio train No. 10 from Cleveland to New York ran into an open switch at Guffey Coal Mine about fifteen miles east of Pittsburg.
