Robert Weir a private detective using the alias Bob Mitchell testified about driving with Bessie Brockman to a Sharonville roadhouse last week and repeating disputed statements. Ballard cross examined him alleging he sought to provoke drinking. Weir claimed Navy intelligence duties required such assignments. jury instructions follow at 9 am with a verdict expected today.
James Hayden, 60, of Covington, sank in muddy quicksand along the Licking River near Twenty-first Street. Neighbor Henry Runge, crawling on a board, pulled him free after a tense rescue that left both exhausted but Hayden safe and hospitalized.
