Husband Donates Blood To Save Wife In Brooklyn

Teresah Hamlen Chapman, contralto of Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, lay in critical condition at Prospect Heights Hospital. Her husband Livingston Chapman, a baritone at the same church, allowed a quart of his blood to be transfused into her veins, aided by a friend who provided a pint of red cells. The operation used Dr. Crile’s metal canula method to prevent clotting, with doctors noting possible need for further transfusions as her condition improves.

Special Dispatch reports a Rochester auto driven by Dr. George Waldron was struck by a Rochester & Eastern trolley car at a crossing near Canandaigua. Four people died instantly: Dr. Waldron, Mrs. William Scandling, Mrs. Jane Hobbs of Hopewell, and Mrs. Katie Farnsworth of Rochester.

Springfield Mass Aug 28 Hugh Kane a Ludlow milkman was held up robbed and murdered by a highwayman on the road from South Hadley to Ludlow this afternoon His horse brought him home and the killer fled into the countryside authorities pursue leads and search the area.

Aged Newport Official Found Bound and Abused in Rooming House

R. F. Singleton, retired Newport magistrate, was discovered bound and gagged on a Richmond Street rooming house cot. Police released him after a bloody struggle. he was rushed to City Hospital with a fractured jaw and head injuries. Singelton claimed robbery of $37. only his glasses and a lodge insignia remained. The room had signs of a violent struggle and furniture damage.

Seward Heidelbach a Cincinnati clothing magnate and cousin of Alfred Heidelbach is reported missing in New York after lunch with his brother at the Equitable Life Building. He planned to pay drafts to Europe then meet at Newberg & Co. He had heart illness and carried about $4 000. He left dressed in a light blue crepe suit and Panama hat.
