Minister Ends Life After Criticizing Church
The Rev. Albert H Trick shot and killed himself in a Mills Hotel room after condemning the church as untruthful and insincere. He left a letter to Charles N Dowd in New York City saying he could not worship Americas trinity of success pleasure and gold and reflecting on his lonely life and failed effort to square his soul with Jesus teachings. He noted a shift toward truth justice love and liberty and lamented the churches distortions of history. Trick had been a pastor in Chicago and Saratoga but had no regular post for years and earned a meager living as an insurance agent. He wrote of joining his late wife and noted his sons and daughter in Brooklyn.
