St Johns Newfoundland, Aug 20. Icebergs have persisted later than usual this summer around Newfoundland with many bergs sighted drifting toward trans Atlantic lanes and some stranded in bays. The ice patrol by US Coast Guard cutters Seneca and Miami ended after five months of monitoring Grand Banks as one large iceberg slowly melted into a growler.
Washington reports General Carranza plans to move to Mexico City and set up a government by next week to answer the Pan American peace appeal. Carranza will urge U S recognition as the surest path to peace, with generals pledging support. Brazilian Minister Cardoso meets Secretary Lansing and heads to White House to brief President Wilson on the Mexican situation.
