During the Royal Albert Yacht Club regatta at South Sea the American yacht Isolde, owned by Baron Von Zedlitz, was dismasted after a collision with Britannia and Meteor. All crew were swept overboard. the Baron and several others were saved but he died soon after reaching Ryde hospital. The accident prompted swift rescue by nearby vessels and steam yachts.
