Henry Heidelbrink 16 of 1314 Main street was arrested at Cleves after firing a pistol at butterflies and birds during an attempt to ride off with a horse and buggy. Detectives sought him for horse theft. locals planned rural justice before Cincinnati authorities take over. Heidelbrink postponed his Asia trip.

Fire at the Lawrenceburg Fair Grounds destroyed two tiers of stables. Horseman O P Cunningham was burned while rescuing his horses but all animals were saved. Loss to the fair association is $3,000 with $500 insurance. Cunningham's loss on harness and feed is $500, with no insurance.
Youngstown Ohio August 17 William Burns a stationary engineer for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad near Girard saved his life by killing an Italian workman after a quarrel. The laborer stabbed Burns before he fired five shots, killing the man. Burns will recover.
